Entertainment
Sandpoint Idaho has great entertainment options if you want to play outdoors! Sure we have bowling alleys, movie theaters and all the normal activities that most towns have. But to truly appreciate Sandpoint and North Idaho, you need to get outdoors!
In summer, we find ourselves playing on the beautiful Lake Pend Oreille swimming in some of the cleanest water in all of North America. Water skiing, sail boating and fishing are a few of the other popular activities we sneak in. Going four wheeling, biking, hiking or horseback riding on the thousands of miles of Forest Service land is also a favorite past time from spring through Fall. In the winter we have Schweitzer Mountain Ski Resort to keep us entertained. Of course you have to find time for snow mobiling and snow shoeing as well. There's no end to the entertainment if playing outside. It's usually harder to find the time to fit it all in!

The daily afternoon cruise on the Shawnodese is a delightful loop trip near the shores of Lake Pend Oreille. Learn about the history and geology of this magnificent lake. See where the ice dam was formed 17,000 years ago that led to the creation of Lake Pend Oreille. Lake Pend Oreille’s origin is a fascinating story and has been said by Geologists to be "The greatest geologic story never told." Learn about the early Indian history and David Thompson, the first white man to settle in our area. Discover our rich rail history, and our very strange connection to Navy submarine research. Most of all experience the awesome beauty of our lake and mountains. And as a special treat for our young (and young at heart) passengers, children have an opportunity to be Captain of the Day and take a turn at the wheel.

Dominating the skies at Silverwood is Aftershock, the 191 foot tall steel roller coaster. This beast is really two thrills in one, because not only does it take you forwards through a cobra roll and inverted loop at over a hundred feet in the air at speeds up to 65 mph, but backwards as well! |
